Las Vegas Marriage Documents
To be legally married in Las Vegas, you’ll need to secure two essential marriage documents:
- Marriage License – This must be obtained before your wedding ceremony. It’s the legal authorization to marry.
- Certified Copy of Marriage Certificate – This should be requested after the ceremony as official proof of your marriage.

How to Apply for Your Marriage Documents in Las Vegas
To streamline the process of getting legally married in Las Vegas, start by completing the online marriage pre-application before visiting in person. This step will save you time and allow you to use the Express Lane at the Marriage License Bureau.
Your pre-application will remain in the system for 60 days.
Access the official form on the Clark County Clerk’s website.
Apply in Person for Your Marriage License
Both parties must appear in person to obtain the first of your required marriage documents—the Marriage License.
Visit the Clark County Marriage License Bureau
Bring your reference number from the pre-application and a valid government-issued photo ID (e.g., passport or driver’s license)
Marriage License Fee
The Marriage License fee is $102 (as of 2025). Accepted payment methods include:
- Cash
- Credit or debit card
- Money order
- Traveler’s checks
- Cashier’s checks (U.S. bank only)
Note: Personal checks are not accepted.
Requirements for a Las Vegas Marriage License
Both parties must be 18 or older.
Bring a valid government-issued photo ID.
No blood test or physical exam required.
Apply in person at the Clark County Marriage License Bureau.
No waiting period; marriage documents are valid for 1 year in Nevada.
No divorce papers needed unless your ID doesn’t match your current legal name.

How to Get a Certified Copy of Your Marriage Certificate
A Certified Marriage Certificate is an official marriage document proving your ceremony took place in Clark County.
You can request it:
Online with a credit or debit card
By mail or in person through the Clark County Recorder’s Office
Marriage records in Nevada are public. The officiant has 10 days to submit your certificate. Once recorded, certified copies are usually available within one business day.
Your marriage documents will use your legal name exactly as it appears on your ID. Be sure to present the correct identification.
