You need to obtain two documents in order to be
legally married in Las Vegas.
It is very easy, no need to worry.

A Marriage License is the first document. The License has to be obtained before the ceremony takes place.

A Certified Copy of Marriage Certificate is
the second document. The Certificate should be obtained after the ceremony takes place.

All you have to do is follow the instructions below.

How to obtain a Las Vegas Marriage License

Complete THE ONLINE MARRIAGE PRE-APPLICATION before coming in to get your Marriage License.

This step will save you time and allow to use the Express Lane. Your Pre-Application will be kept in the system for sixty (60) days.

Apply in person for your Marriage License

Both you and your fiance have to go to the Marriage License Bureau or to a Marriage Services Clerk at one of the outlying locations in order to obtain your Marriage License.

You should bring your Reference Number and a valid photo ID to the main Marriage License Bureau in Las Vegas.

Fees: The Marriage License in Las Vegas costs $77. Services can be paid for by cash, bank cashier checks, business checks, or money orders.

*Requirements for U.S. citizens and non U.S. citizens are the same.

**Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, and no nearer of kin than second cousins or cousins of half-blood, and not having a husband or wife living.

***Your marriage license is valid for one year.

How to obtain a Certified Copy of Marriage Certificate

By mail or in person: Click here to order your document by mail or in person.

*In the State of Nevada, marriage records are public documents.

**Clark County Recorder’s Office records the Marriage Certificate which is proof that a marriage ceremony was performed in Clark County. The marriage official who performs the ceremony has 10 days to submit the Marriage Certificate to this office for recording.  Normally a Certified Copy of the Certificate would be available 1 day after the Certificate has been received from the official.

***Your Marriage License and Certificate will be prepared with your legal name exactly as it appears on the identification presented.  It is your responsibility to present the proper identification to have your name reflected as you desire.
